Follow on Work

Pupils have

  • painted their own work inspired by what they have seen during the presentation.
  • made a class collage
  • created a series of paintings for their Art Week.
  • done written work based on what they have seen.

Teachers

  •  learn both new information and how to use paintings in a classroom context.

Brilliant! Now I have lots of ideas on how to use paintings to introduce/extend story ideas. (I'm going to try some of these ideas this week for our extended writing)

Teacher, Greenwich

  • are given a list of useful websites where - they may examine the paintings again and in many cases, zoom into the image to check the tiny details, brushwork and pentimenti - they can find art quiz programmes for their pupils

What a great session on Surrealism! The follow up work the children did straight after Jo’s visit has been some of the best and most imaginative writing they have ever produced. Erith.

Pippa left me a lot of artists’ work and lots of ideas for follow up lessons. Pippa has sparked our creative project off to a fantastic start.  Durham

Fantastic ideas for our Art topic Journeys. Varied, interesting and well chosen works of art. All of which could lead to some work the class can do over half term.  Lewisham

Enjoyable session – has given us lots of ideas for future lessons !  Barnet

All children wanted to make their own posters of the Olympics – which they are doing now !  Tower Hamlets
