Teachers Feedback

Barnet

Excellent presentation on a very difficult topic – FORCES. Children were engaged throughout session and enjoyed looking at a variety of paintings. A very energetic and interesting delivery which was enjoyed by all. Well done !

Blessed Dominic RC, 10th February.

Bexley

Very good introduction to art galleries. The children enjoyed learning abut artists and handling the resources. There were good opportunities for the children to observe, discuss the paintings. Also imagine how the painter may have painted.

A good range of styles shown.  Thank you very much, a super, enjoyable and informative session.

Our Lady of the Rosary, 22nd January.

Durham

The children made the most unbelievable comments and observations about the paintings. They made insightful and even philosophical answers. It is Pippa’s method of asking questions that makes this possible. I cannot recommend Magic Lantern highly enough. Any topic can be brought to life and inspire the children to want to learn more.

South Pelaw Infants, 5th February.

Gateshead

Absolutely enthralling, thank you. Totally captured the children’s ( and teachers ! ) imagination. Brilliant links to Science / PSHCE, healthy lifestyles, food processes

Brandling, 21st January.

A very lively interactive session. All children included and involved in answering questions.

Very informative – Excellent

Wyborne, 4th March.

Hackney

Excellent ! The children were very engaged and felt able to ask lots of questions. The selection of art was excellent and guided the children clearly from the Ancient Olympic Games to modern Olympics. Matt has an excellent manner with the children and was able to direct the talk towards their interests.

William Patten, 11th March.

Haringey

Matthew had an excellent knowledge base and a good range of images which stimulated rich and interesting discussion. He pitched questions at the right level and helped children develop their understanding by expanding on their answers and encouraging them to develop their thinking skills. Children learned to examine paintings carefully and to use skills of deduction and inference.  The session was really interactive, stimulating and exciting. The children enjoyed coming up to the front and doing the activities examining the pictures for clues. Excellent. Thank you.

Weston Park, 25th March

Harrow

Excellent delivery / great energy. Great questioning. Interactive painting very good. Children really engaged. Very interesting stories about each painting and will definitely encourage children to look more closely at paintings.

Thank you very much : we really enjoyed this very valuable experience.

St Anselm’s, 25th March.

Islington

Matt’s art lesson today was fabulous Matt came prepared for the lesson and ensured all equipment was ready. He used visual examples in his lesson and engaged the children by using drama throughout.. Matt made sure the lesson linked in with what we were learning in the classroom. He had a great rapport with the children and displayed great classroom behaviour management. The activity was creative and age appropriate. Due to Matt’s understanding of Art History he was able to pass on this knowledge to the children and the final product looked amazing.

Sacred Heart, 16th March.

Lewisham

A fabulous introduction to a the QCA unit : People in Action. Children were introduced to a number of paintings and sculpture and were actively involved in talking about aspects of the paintings which also included technical aspects – how it was painted etc which will support children’s practical skills – this was great ! Really good to encourage observational skills. Really interesting – thanks, A-J.

St James Hatcham, New Cross, 23rd February.

Lambeth

Helen has a really calm way with the children. All children captivated from the beginning. She is extremely knowledgeable and the objectives of how artists portray action is excellently metThe interaction of children pretending to paint adds the extra confidence to both able and less able artists. Many techniques are shown and clear instructions are given. Her explanations of how to read and interpret paintings are excellent.

Henry Cavendish, 30th January.

Newcastle

A terrific amount of information was covered in this session recapping what the children already know and extending their knowledge. It fitted very well into what we have already done and what we will be doing over the next few weeks, covering language, architecture, art etc. Resources were great, well suited to children. Careful questioning enabled most to answer questions. Many thanks – we all thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot.

Broadway East, 17th March.

Newcastle Hospital

Once again Pippa delivered fantastic sessions to our pupils in the hospital. She linked the topic to our theme for the term – Rainforests. She worked with Ryan who is a regular dialysis patient and has special needs : he was very motivated within the session and commented how much he enjoyed it. He has worked with Pippa before and has stated that he is looking forward to next session. Pippa also worked with a group of older pupils on the children’s cancer ward, one of the pupils in particular is usually disengaged with education and he thoroughly enjoyed the session and it was lovely to see him join in and make relevant contributions to the session.

Pippa always delivers superb sessions and we love having her in the hospitals. Thank you and we look forward to seeing her next time.

Dr Thomlinson’s Middle School, Rothbury, 4th February.

Southwark

The lessons were well planned and delivered in a fun and exciting way. The children were engaged throughout and benefited from a teaching style that took into account the different ways children learn. The links to the curriculum were clear and allowed me to follow up with activities.

St Joseph’s, 20th January.

Wandsworth

What a treat ! Thank you so much – Art History in child speak at last.  Lovely idea to get children up and involved in ‘ painting on the canvas ‘.  Lots of information given but at a very appropriate level of language. Relates to what children already know. Very enthusiastic delivery. Please come back.

St Faith’s CE,  23rd March.

Westminster

Lovely selection of paintings to stimulate the children’s imagination. The session involved all of the children, bringing out the less confident ones who were keen to share their ideas. The idea of the children stepping into paintings was great for stimulating role play. All the children’s ideas were enthusiastically received by Matthew. We plan to do lots of follow on activities as a result to build on and maintain the children’s interests.
